And for a Moment

So I am a paying customer to Direct Tv now.

Altho Im not the biggest fan of tv, They were so kind as to also give us 50 music channels.

I DO happen to be a freak for some music.

I am finding that my absolute favorite right now is the 1940's station.

I love hearing that old time sound, and milling around my house, doing house things,
listening to what my grandmothers listened to when THEY were milling around the house doing house things.

I discussed this with the girls , to help them understand time lines and generations and such.
I asked them if they knew which of their relatives wouldve been listening to this when they were Madelyne and Hannahs Age.
It is teachng them perspectives and deep thoughts about times gone by. Im into that sappy stuff.

It is neat, because they also re-broadcast news as it was coming across the airwaves back then, speaking of Germany, and Nazi's, and telling me what day it "is".
I think that experience of hearing these sounds and newclips the same as back then, is unbelievably rich and rare.

Yay for the age of technology.
Reaching right thru the window of time to deliver me a feeling and vibe that happened 70 years ago.

The new age channel is quite lovely for sleepytime.

I enlisted the girls to make dinner.
Papa's Spaghetti as it is called.

As it was simmering and making the house smell oh so terrific,
I gave the girls a quick break and found the 'pop hits of now' station
and turned it on for them,
and as i was about to puke and find something better,
i turned and saw they were both seizing up and wriggling, leaping to and fro.

My first instinct was to throw them to the floor and assess possible cardiac malfunctions, but then I realized, they were dancing.

Smiling, jumping, laughing and singing horribly loud.

Oh, the sour taste in the back of my throat, I had to choke down, because it was too cute to stop.

Damian caught on the the contagious frenzy and put the sippy cup down to bust out some moves in his diaper, alongside the fruitball sisters he has.

I let them be. I figured I could implement this into a daily routine, and then when we arrive at functions, they will be all screamed out and behave like nice little children should ( or like they appear to in the books i read about mythical creatures, ha ha).

I turned my attentions elsewhere, the volume was up really high, and they were completely immersed in the gayness.

Justin walks thru the front door with a grossed out look on his face and I holler to him over the (music), "Whoa there !! Hold up!! There is Gayness in here!! "

He hurried and grabbed what he was seeking and left again quickly before he could become infected with the merciless sounds bumping out of the cable tv.

I stepped outside even, and let them continue, as new songs came on, they sung louder.

It was hilarious.

Thank goodness our neighbors are too far to hear them, or they may be shooting what sounds like a herd of rabid animals killing each other violently. he he.

A few moments later i felt they had enough
and I returned inside to announce dinnertime,
and forced the volume down, and girls with microphones ( flashlights) in hand, kept singing along until they finally gave up and accepted the checkmate.

Justin and Jeff then safely and slightly worriedly came in for dinner, and were no longer thrust into the danger zone of Crap ( I mean Pop) music.

It was funny stuff.

Amazing how somethng as insignificant as a few music stations on your cable tv program can inspire such thoughts, observations and seizures.

"The gods who have been appointed to be our companions in the dance, have given us the pleasurable sense of harmony and rhythm; and so they stir us to life, and we follow them, joining together in dances and songs." -Plato

  1. Experiencing true joy from the simple things in life...it is a child's gift to us.

Our hearts should dance with them.
